Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your home computer, through a web account. The regulations are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be "handed out" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most profitable machine every time.
As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
