Video Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or in your house on your computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to get the best combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to select the most profitable ones each time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the enthusiast an opportunity to double their profits, in which instance a further round is played. There are also differences among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
