Video Poker is a favored game that can be bet on in casinos all over the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web account. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced players are able to select the most profitable machine each and every instance.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that has been won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the bettor an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
