Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your personal computer, through a web connection. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to get the best mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. On this account it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he or she wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to select the most beneficial ones each instance.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few styles of the game give the gambler an opportunity to double their winnings, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
